By now almost all backers have received their Sketchmarks! We know a few have been delivered in the last few days and some orders are still in transit, but we believe close to 95% of orders have been delivered. We hope you are enjoying your cards and wanted to share a few updates we have made to Sketchmark after receiving backer feedback.
We have completely eliminated the need for double sided tape to hold the Sketchmarks in place. Many backers found the adhesive to be too strong and we think longer transit times, especially in warmer climates, made the adhesive stronger than it was intended to be.
To fix this, we have added a piece of cardboard into the packaging design with a cutout for the Sketchmark. Not only does this eliminate the need for adhesives, it also adds 1 more layer of protection around the cards during transit. We will be using this design for our second production run of the Original Sketchmark and the first production run of our new Bullet Journal Expansion Card. Here are a few photos showing the updated design.
With the success of our first campaign (and now the 2nd campaign) we have worked with our manufacturer to find a way to upgrade the material used for Sketchmark and will be switching from aluminum to stainless steel. The stainless steel will make the cards more durable and more resistant to bending. At the same time, the stainless steel will nearly double the weight of the cards. We have been testing the new stainless steel with our Bullet Journal Expansion Card sample and love the new weight and feel of the cards. The photos below show the 2 samples we made for our Expansion Card and the weight difference between aluminum (first) and stainless steel (second). Overall, the black appearance of the new cards will be identical to the original production run making it easy to pair a new expansion card with an original (aluminum) Sketchmark. The main difference will be found in the weight of the cards.
As part of the second campaign, we will be selling Original Sketchmarks in both Aluminum and Stainless Steel as Add-ons.
Our Bullet Journal Expansion Card campaign has just passed $14,000 and is headed towards a similar finish as the Original Sketchmark! As mentioned before, if you have not received your first order but think you might want the expansion card, you are able to back the campaign and cancel your pledge any time before the campaign ends on July 16th. This gives our international backers a chance to begin using their first orders before the second campaign ends.
